Pierce Side
Lewis Pierce was the father of our grandparents, as far back as eight generations. The family lived in a community know as Mt. Zion, in Monticello, Arkansas, where our grandparents grew up. As an independent man, he refused to live with his children & chose to not burden his family. Some of the children who lived nearby fondly remember sharing family meals with him. This became a tradition with the family... self reliance & independence!
OUR
Story
Ridgell Side
The Ridgell family history starts with Leander Ridgell. According to the 1870 census, Leander was born in 1818 in the state of Georgia as was his parents. The original spelling of his name was Ridgal. Leander was a slave owned by J.W. Ridgell of South Carolina. Leander's wife, Cintha was from Virginia & from this union had ten children, all born in Arkansas. It's unknown how much land he acquired in Drew County, but we've been able to keep it in the family. Some of the family in Arkansas reside there today.
